Coronavirus has become an international threat with more than 90,000 infected individuals; mostly in China, and thousands of deaths as well. As we write, there are active clinical trials carried out in the USA and China. Many cities and states around the world have been put under a State of Emergency. People who recently visited Asian countries are being tested for the illness. With the increasing number of cases around the world, it is very important for everyone to have more information about the virus and how to deal with it.
How did it originate?
The virus is believed to have come from animal sources. Dating back to 1937, the virus was first responsible for bronchitis in birds that spread through other poultry animals. Coronavirus was first discovered in humans back in 1960 when two individuals carried it with a common cold. This virus is known to be highly infectious during winter and spring as it’s transmitted through air or contact with feces of animals that carry the virus.
How is it spread?
As mentioned, the virus is transmitted through air or contact. So should an infected individual sneeze or cough around you, there’s a very good chance you might catch it. Close contact with any such person like handshakes or hugging also carries the same risk. Also, touching something or some place that’s been in contact with someone suffering from the illness can also transmit the virus.
