Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”): This refers to information that lets us know the specifics of who you are. You are not required to provide us with any PII to access the Site. Examples of PII may include your first and last name, email address, telephone number, date of birth and zip code. You may also voluntarily provide other PII, whether or not specifically requested by us, by posting publicly viewable comments on the Site. You agree that we may collect any PII voluntarily supplied by you, whether or not we have requested it. You must not submit any PII relating to a third party without obtaining their consent. We do not knowingly collect any information relating to third parties which you do not have permission to provide. Please beware that without providing any PII, you will not be able to receive insurance quotes, purchase insurance or engage in any other similar services on the Site. When you engage in certain activities on our Site, such as sending us an email to privacy@multichoiceinsurance.com or utilizing our “Contact Us” page, we will ask you to provide certain PII.

  1. We do not collect any types of Sensitive Data from our users. Sensitive Data includes any PII pertaining to: race or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union memberships, genetic or biometric data, health or mortality, and sex life or sexual orientation. If accessing the mobile Site, we may also collect mobile device ID; device name and model; operating system type, name, and version; language information; with your permission, we will collect location information from your mobile device using GPS technology (or similar technology) to help you identify your assignment’s address. You may turn off this feature through the location settings on your mobile device.

Aggregate Information: This refers to information that does not by itself identify a specific individual. We gather certain information about you based upon which parts of the Site you visit and what other sites may have directed you to us. This information, which is collected in a variety of different ways, is compiled and analyzed on both a personal and an aggregated basis. This information may include a website's Uniform Resource Locator ("URL") that points to the site you just came from, which URL you go to after visiting our Site, what browser you are using, and your Internet Protocol ("IP") address.

2. How We Collect and Use Information

We do not collect any PII about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us. However, you may be required to provide certain PII to us when you elect to use certain services available on the Site.

We will primarily use your PII to provide information for you. We will also use certain forms of PII to enhance the operation of our Site, improve our internal marketing and promotional efforts, statistically analyze Site use, improve our service, and customize the Site’s content, layout, and services. We may use PII to deliver information to you, and to contact you if you request that we do so. Finally, we may use your PII to enforce our agreements with you, including our Site’s Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy.

We may also use your PII to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. You may opt out of receiving any, or all, of these communications from us by following the unsubscribe link or instructions in any mail we send (as further discussed in Sections 6 and 7).

We may also collect certain Aggregate Information. For example, we may use your IP address to diagnose problems with our servers, software, to administer our Site and to gather demographic information.

If your web browser emits “do not track” signals, or you use other mechanisms that provide you the opportunity to prevent the collection of PII or Aggregate Information about your online activities, we honor these signals or mechanisms by refraining from collecting information about you.

3. Cookies

We use cookies and other tracking mechanisms to track information about your use of our Site. We may combine this information with other personal information we collect from you.

Cookies. Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser for record-keeping purposes. Some cookies allow us to make it easier for you to navigate our Site, while others are used to enable a faster log-in process or to allow us to track your activities at our Site and Service. There are two types of cookies: session and persistent cookies.

  1. Session Cookies. Session cookies exist only during an online session. They disappear from your computer when you close your browser or turn off your computer. We use session cookies to allow our systems to uniquely identify you during a session or while you are logged into the Site. This allows us to process your online transactions and requests and verify your identity, after you have logged in, as you move through our Site.
  2. Persistent Cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your computer after you have closed your browser or turned off your computer. We use persistent cookies to track aggregate and statistical information about user activity, and to display advertising both on our Site and on third-party sites. However, we do not use persistent cookies to track your browsing behaviors.
  3. Disabling Cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but if you prefer, you can edit your browser options to block them in the future. The Help portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your computer from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether. Visitors to our Site who disable cookies will be able to browse certain areas of the Site, but some features may not function.

4. Release of Information

We will not sell, trade, or rent your PII to others. We do provide some of our services through contractual arrangements made with affiliates, service providers, partners and other third parties ("Service Partners"). Our Service Partners include all of the insurance providers available on our Site and Google Analytics, which is used to view and collect the Aggregate Information. If you purchase or submit information in furtherance of purchasing a specific insurance policy, you will be submitting your PII to that specific Service Partner. We use SendinBlue and  MailChimp to provide email and text marketing, respectively. We may choose to provide your email address on file to Facebook and Google AdWords for advertising targeting on other websites. We and our Service Partners may need to use some PII in order to perform tasks between our respective sites, or to deliver services to you. For example, we use Service Partners to assist us in delivering our electronic newsletters and communications to you, providing direct marketing and advertising and to analyze Aggregate Information.

We will choose Service Partners who adopt and promote strong privacy policies. However, the use of your PII by our Service Partners is governed by the respective privacy policies of those providers and is not subject to our control. Specifically, the insurance policy you choose is governed by that specific carrier. The carrier and their affiliate third parties will have access to all PII delivered through us to them. Please visit the appropriate provider’s privacy policy and terms and conditions to determine how they use your PII.

Except as otherwise discussed in this Privacy Policy, this document only addresses the use and disclosure of information we collect from you. Any other sites accessible through our Site, including those of our Service Partners, have their own privacy policies and data collection, use and disclosure practices. Please consult each site's privacy policy. We are not responsible for the policies or practices of third parties.

Other than our Service Partners, we do not allow third parties to collect PII or Aggregate information about you or your online activities when you use our Site.

Occasionally we may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide PII to the appropriate governmental authorities. In such cases, we will disclose PII upon receipt of a court order, subpoena, or to cooperate with a law enforcement investigation. We fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies in identifying those who use our services for illegal activities. We reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we in good faith believe to be unlawful.

If you subscribe to one of our SMS Services, you may be required to register and provide further Personal Information. We may also collect the date, time and content of your messages in the course of your use of the SMS Service. We will use the information we obtain in connection with our SMS Service for the purpose of sending the SMS messages. If fees are charged to your wireless account invoice, we may provide your carrier with your applicable information to facilitate the transaction in connection therewith. Your wireless carrier and other service providers may also collect data about your wireless device usage, and their practices are governed by their own policies. We may also contact your carrier, which may access the content of your wireless account, for the purpose of identifying and resolving technical problems and/or service-related complaints. We do not guarantee that your use of the SMS Service will be private or secure, and we are not liable to you for any lack of privacy or security you may experience. You are fully responsible for taking precautions and providing security measures best suited for your situation and intended use of the SMS Service.
